Tags are place-holders that will be filled in at report generation time. Tags allow dynamic template creation, and also provides a method to use a single heading layout for all chapters or topics by using tags to dynamically fill in the chapter or topic name.
To insert a tag, position the text cursor at the position where you want the tag to be placed, then click on the Insert Tag editor toolbar button
. This will pop up a menu that you can then browse through to insert the tag desired. Only the tags that are allowed for what you are editing will be shown. A complete list of the tags can be found in the Tag Summary section.
Note: if the tag is changed to all uppercase characters, the resolved data will be converted to all uppercase. For example, if you had the tag for company name as $Co:Name, the result would be, say, "Acme Inspections", but if the tag was $CO:NAME, the result would then be "ACME INSPECTIONS". The lone exception is for the $Comment tag used in the Topic Manager.
