RapidRemarks

WhisperReporter includes a flexible and very powerful feature called RapidRemarks. RapidRemarks are basically a set of frequently used comments that can be reused quickly and easily. There can be an unlimited number of RapidRemarks, and each one can be anywhere from one word or image, up to several pages of information, fully formatted, including images, picklists, cloakable text, tags and more.

The available RapidRemarks are shown in the RapidRemark panel on the right side of the main application window. This RapidRemark View can vary depending on which RapidRemarks you configured to be shown for a given topic (more on this later in the RapidRemark View Manager).

A RapidRemark is composed of two entities, one being a short text description, up to 100 characters, and the other being the actual fully formatted RapidRemark itself. This way, lists and searches can be better presented, for example, many inspectors add a code to begin the description so that they can use the AutoPaste (F2) method to add a RapidRemark without having to find the RapidRemark in the RapidRemark view.

Inserting RapidRemarks into your comment

There are several methods to insert a RapidRemark into your comment:

AutoPaste (F2 key)
Type in one or more characters and then tap the F2 key or click the AutoPaste icon just above the RapidRemark View panel. If any RapidRemark descriptions begin with the characters you have typed in, they will show up in a pop up menu for you to choose from. An expanded view of the selected RapidRemark is shown in a hint bubble above the comment to help you isolate the correct RapidRemark to insert should the description not contain quite enough information. Pick the desired RapidRemark from the list and tap the Enter key, or tap the Esc key to cancel. The current word, or partial word, used to locate the RapidRemark is replaced by the actual RapidRemark.

Drag-n-drop
Locate the desired RapidRemark in the RapidRemark panel, click the mouse button on the RapidRemark and drag it to where you want to insert it into your comment, then release the mouse button.

Double-Click
Position the text cursor where you want the RapidRemark to be inserted, then locate the desired RapidRemark in the RapidRemark panel, and double click it. If you need to see an expanded version of the RapidRemark, just click on it once to select it; a hint bubble will appear above the RapidRemark View panel for the currently selected RapidRemark. You can also insert the RapidRemark by double-clicking the hint bubble.

Adding part or all of your comment as a RapidRemark

You can always use the RapidRemark Manager to add new RapidRemarks, but you can also create them directly from your report comments. If you want the whole comment to be saved as a new RapidRemark, just right click on the comment and select Save As RapidRemark from the popup menu. If you just want part of the comment, select the portion of the comment you want to save and then right click on the comment and select Save As RapidRemark from the popup menu. In both cases, the new RapidRemark will default to being saved into either the topmost folder or the currently selected RapidRemark folder that is in the current RapidRemark View, and will use the first 100 characters as the description. The new RapidRemark can then be further dragged into another folder of your choice in the RapidRemark Manager as needed. However, to save time and have the new RapidRemark saved into the folder of your choice right then and there, you can use an alternate method to save a new RapidRemark. As before, select the portion of the comment you want to save as a new RapidRemark, but instead of right clicking, simply drag the text to the desired folder in the RapidRemark panel.
