Printing The Report
Previous  Top  Next

To print or preview your report, either use the menu sequence File ® Print/Create Report, or click on the Print Report icon on the main toolbar. Either method will invoke the Print Report dialog:

Print View
Select the view to base the printed report on. WhisperReporter allows you to print your report findings based on different "views", the default being the Report View. Currently the only other option would be to print using the associated Work View. Printing using the Work view might be useful if printing to use for field notes instead of carrying your computer throughout an insepction. Future versions will allow the creation of additional Print Views so that you can print the same report data in different reports, depending on who the report might be intended for. For example, the realtor might want a condensed version of the report, whereas the buyer would get a full detailed and nicely formatted report.

Items To Include In Report
Within this dialog you can select which chapters and topics to print (it will print all of them by default, but you might want to exclude the contract pages if printing for the realtor). You can also select to suppress certain topics if one or more topic checkboxes are checked. For example, you might not care to print any topics that have been marked as "Not Present".

In the example to the right, any is selected. This implies an or operation in regard to the checkboxes; i.e. if "Not Inspected" or "Not Present" is checked in a topic, that topic will not be printed. If all was selected, an and operation is implied; i.e. if both "Not Inspected" and "Not Present" are checked, then the topic will not be printed.

Print Report To
Select where the report should be directed to:

·Adobe acrobat PDF file
Use this option to create a report in a secure format PDF file format for emailing to clients. The Acrobat PDF format is a fairly universal format having free PDF readers available from Adobe for most platforms, and as such, this is the recommended method to distribute reports to your clients. For more information, see the chapter on PDF Creation.

·Rich Text Format (RTF)
This creates the report in an RTF format which can readily be imported by various word processors such as Microsoft Word. Please note that reports built by WhisperReporter might contain non-RTF compatible constructs; in other words, the result might not be 100% compatible will all word processors on the market today. This feature is available to allow you to import the majority of the information into another word processor, but we cannot guarantee 100% conversion. And because the RTF format cannot be made secure and might not be 100% compatible, it is not recommended for distribution to your clients.

·Printer
Allows you to select the printer to use to create a paper copy of your report for your files and/or your client.

Print report as a worksheet
This option is available should you wish to print a copy of a report you might have created to use as a worksheet out in the field. This option will cause all the topic checkboxes to be unchecked in the printout, and if you referenced client or property information using tags, they will not be filled in, leaving you with a report that you can fill in using a pen or pencil in the field.
