Linked Text

In the Linked Text tab page in Preferences, you can specify optional layouts and headings that will be automatically added to any linked text that is resolved using the $LinkedText tag:

Optional Layouts
For each linked item that was marked as linked text, you can have a layout applied. For example, you might want to number each item, add spacing between each item or add checkboxes to a "in need of repair" list of linked text items so that the client can initial each issue (or perhaps the checkboxes can be used to checkmark each item as it was repaired).

You can also specify to automatically add chapter and topic headings. The headings would only appear if at least one linked topic under that heading was being printed (i.e. if you had a topic heading for all linked text but there were no linked text items in the Roofing topic, then the roofing topic heading would not be printed). These headings are setup using the Topic Layout Manager so that you can customize the look and feel of these headings. For example, you might want to include a heading so that items will separated based on the system, i.e. all linked text from the Structural Systems Chapter will be shown under the heading "Structural Problems" in an auto summary page. You could also add a heading for each topic in the same manner, such that under Structural Problems there would be additional heading for each topic, i.e. Roof, Foundations, etc.
