Inserting Images
Previous  Top  Next

There are a couple of methods to add images into your report:

One method allows you to quickly add one or more images directly into your comment that have not yet been copied to the database. To do this, first position the text cursor where you want to insert the image, then either click on the Insert Image icon found on the editor toolbar or use the menu sequence Edit ® Insert Image. This method brings up a browse window where you can locate the image or images you want to insert into your comment at the location where the text cursor currently sits. Each image you select will cause WhisperReporter to make a copy of the image, scale it down, add it to the database and insert it into the comment at the text cursor position.

The other method involves first pre-loading all images into the database and then simply dragging the image from the Image panel to the desired position in the comment. Pre-loading of images into the database is convenient when you have taken a lot of pictures and want to offload all of them from your camera at one time, and then have them readily available in a thumbnail view right there within WhisperReporter itself for easy drag-n-drop. To pre-load the images, you can either use the menu sequence Tools ® Preload Images Into Database or right click in the Images panel on the right side of the main window and selecting Preload Additional Images Into Database. Either choice will invoke a browse window to select the images you want to pre-load into WhisperReporter's database for the current report.

Once images have been loaded into the database using either method above, they are available from the image panel for drag-n-drop insertion into one or more locations in the report. If there is an image you do not need, simply right click on the image in the image panel, and select Delete Image from the popup menu. Note however that this only deletes it from the database; so, if the report is still linked to the image, you will see a red outline where the image used to be presented.

Image Placement

Once an image has been inserted, it can be moved by simply dragging it to where you want it. By default, an image is treated just like a character, and as such, any text that exists around the image is formatted as if the image is just another character. There are several word wrap styles to choose from that can be applied to an image by first selecting the image, and then right clicking to pick one of the following text wrap styles:

Position Image As Character
The text wraps around the image, but only the text on the same line as the image gets wrapped; all other lines are spaced accordingly.

Position Image Relative To Paragraph, Autowrap Text Left or Right
The text is wrapped to one side of the image, depending on whether the image is left or right of the document center.

Position Image Relative To Paragraph, Autowrap Text Left and Right
The text is wrapped around both sides of the image.
