Creating A New Blank Template
Previous  Top  Next

If you selected to create a new blank template, you will be prompted with the following:

Template Name
Enter a template name that will be meaningful to you when creating new reports based on this template. The template name can be changed later.

Report View
Has a list of available report views to choose from, simply select the one you want to use for this new blank template. A report view defines how the report will look when printed, and defines the primary navigation tree that will appear in the left panel in WhisperReporter's main window.

Work View
Has a list of available work views that can be used with the selected report view. A work view is an alternate navigation tree that still references the particular report view's comment areas, but can be arranged in a way that better fits the inspection procedure, such as room-by-room, without affecting the overall report layout as defined by the report view. Work Views are discussed later in this document. A work view can be created and added later.

Pre-set Topic Checkboxes
This will list the topic checkboxes that are contained in the selected report view. Topic Checkboxes are checkboxes inserted into topic layouts as opposed to comment checkboxes which can be added anywhere in a comment by the inspector. For example, topic-level checkboxes might include "Inspected", "Not Inspected", "Monitor", etc. which typically apply to more than one topic, and frequently apply to all topics. When creating a new report, you might be able to save time by having certain topic checkboxes checked at creation time, such as "Not Present", so that you don't have to go to a topic just to check the "Not Present" checkbox.

Click OK to begin the task of entering comment level information into the template based on the report view selected.
