You can include checkboxes at any point in a report. There are two types of checkboxes, "comment" and "topic" checkboxes. "Comment" checkboxes differ from "topic" checkboxes in that comment checkboxes are added while entering your comments or are added to create templates, plus they are unique to the current comment itself. "Topic" checkboxes are inserted into topic layouts, are are not part of body of the comment itself; Topic checkboxes have a corresponding Checkbox Group, created using the Checkbox Group Manager.
To insert a checkbox, use either the menu sequence Edit ® Insert/Toggle Comment Checkbox, or click on the Insert Checkbox icon on the editor toolbar. Once the checkbox has been inserted, you can simply click on it with the mouse to toggle the state of the checkbox (i.e. checked or not checked).
The default checked state is a checkbox with a swish: þ and the unchecked state is an empty checkbox: ¨. Checkboxes are simply normal characters with special attributes; and as such, you can select whatever characters you would like to represent the checked and unchecked state:
Within this dialog are two sets of checkmark styles, one for checkboxes that are used in topic layouts (referred to as "topic" checkboxes, and require a corresponding Checkbox Group in order to be able to toggle them when entering comments for a topic), and the other style is for checkboxes that are used in the body of a comment referred to as "comment" checkboxes.
Use the Select buttons to select the character you want for the respective checkbox and its state. The character(s) you select will only apply to checkboxes you add from that point forward. It will also apply to existing checkboxes but only when you toggle their checked state.
