Browsing Existing Reports
Previous  Top  Next

By default, when WhisperReporter starts up, it loads the last report you had worked on. If you need to access a different report, either use the menu sequence File ® Browse Reports, or click on the Browse Report icon on the main toolbar. Either method will launch the browse dialog:

The list is color and attribute coded as follows:

BlackAn inspector created report that is not locked (not completed) and has no balance due.
RedAn inspector created report that is locked (completed).
BlueA Whisper distributed report or template that is not locked
PurpleA Whisper distributed report or template that is locked
GreenA report that has a balance due. Using the Report Status filter, you can filter the list to only show those reports having a balance due.
UnderlinedA report that is marked as a Template. A report can be marked or unmarked as a template by right clicking on it and selecting the Template menu item from the popup menu. Using the Report Status filter, you can filter the list to only show those reports that have been marked as a template. Note: a Whisper distributed template cannot be changed from being a template.

Note: A report can be locked/unlocked by selecting it in the list and clicking on the Lock/Unlock button. You can also right click on the report and selecting the Complete (Locked) menu item from the popup menu. Locking a report serves three purposes:
·Prevents accidental modification of the report (such as forgetting to create a new report based on a template and instead started modifying the template for your new report.
·Visual indication that the report is complete
·Allows the browse list to have locked/completed reports filtered out in order to show only those reports that are not completed.

Selecting a report to use

When you have located the desired report, either double click the report item in the browse list, or select it by single clicking on it and then clicking OK. To help in locating the report you'd like to use, you can click on the column heading to sort by that column (clicking multiple times alternates between sorting ascending vs descending). WhisperReporter also provides two filters which can be combined to limit the reports shown in the browse list:

Report View
You can filter the browse list to only show reports that used a specific Report View. For example, if you do both Home Inspections and WDI inspections, you can use the Report View filter to only show your WDI reports.

Report Status
You can filter the browse list to only show reports that have one or more of the following status attributes associated with them:
Marked as TemplateReports that are marked as Templates are underlined in the list. When using this filter, only templates will be shown in the browse list.
Not Complete (unlocked)Locked (complete) reports are marked in red, unlocked (not complete) reports are, as you expect, not red. By using this filter, only those reports that are not locked will be shown in the browse list. Typically those reports that are still being worked on will not be locked.
Have balance dueIf the report has a balance due, it will be shown in green. By using this filter, only those reports that have a balance due will be shown in the browse list. This is useful to keep an eye on reports having an outstanding balance.
